Central Islip Man Shoots, Critically Injures Half-Brother, Police Say A 40-year-old man is in custody after shooting and critically injuring his half-brother during an argument overnight in Central Islip, Suffolk County Police said. Third Precinct officers responded to a 911 report of a man shot on Irving Street at approximately 11:05 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13. When officers arrived, they found 31-year-old Daniel Davis in the driveway of the residence with a gunshot wound to his neck, police said.  Davis, of Mastic, was transported via Central Islip-Hauppauge Volunteer Ambulance to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore in critical but stable condition. …

Bellport resident Alexis Velasquez, 30, was riding his bicycle on Montauk Highway near Gazzola Drive at approximately 4:30 a.m. on April 28 when he was struck by an SUV that proceeded to speed away from the scene.
