A New York man was killed and another seriously injured when their ATV was struck by a car in the Poconos, police announced on Monday, Sept. 15.
The crash happened in the northbound lane of State Route 115 in Tunkhannock Township at 2:36 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, according to the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department.
Dymtro Prokopets, 22, of Brooklyn, was operating the ATV with 19-year-old passenger, also of Brooklyn, when their vehicle was struck from behind by a 2018 Nissan Sentra, police said.

On Saturday, July 5 at 9:50 p.m., officers observed a group of ATV and dirt bike riders unlawfully driving on Pacific Avenue in an erratic manner, Atlantic City police said.
The officers followed the group to Albany and Winchester Avenues, where one rider, later identified as Rashaun Blumfield, stopped at a gas station, police said.

A man and woman were killed over the weekend after their ATV veered off the road and flipped in Orange County, authorities said.
According to the Town of Montgomery Police Department, the crash happened on Sunday, July 6, around 2:56 a.m. on Berea Road near Crist Brothers Orchards. A four-wheeled ATV carrying two people was traveling north when it left the roadway, plunged into a ditch, and overturned.

Seven people lost their lives in crashes on Virginia roadways over the 2024 Thanksgiving holiday, a significant decrease from previous years, according to Virginia State Police.
The five-day period surveyed by officials, which ran from Wednesday, Nov. 27 through Sunday, Dec. 1, saw seven fatal crashes across the state in Bath, Culpeper, Page, Spotsylvania, Stafford, Warren, and Wythe counties, officials said.
It represents an improvement compared to 11 fatalities in 2023 and a steep drop from 19 in 2022.
